A number of Manchester United fans took to Twitter after yesterday's chastening defeat to Aston to criticise Roy Keane for his previous comments on Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this season.
Keane has been an ardent supporter of Ronaldo ever since the campaign began in August. Since Erik Ten Hag took over, Ronaldo has been in and out of the squad and has been involved in a couple of bust ups with the manager, including his now infamous walk out during United's win over Tottenham Hotspur last month.
Throughout all of this, Keane has defended Ronaldo. He has claimed that the Portuguese has been disrespected by the club, and that United are a much better team when Ronaldo plays.

Ronaldo has now played the full 90 minutes in the last four United games and the Red Devils have flattered to deceive. Many United fans now prefer to see a more dynamic and younger striker like Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial lead the line.
Yesterday, Ronaldo missed a couple of big chances and offered little in a defensive sense. After the game, many United fans took to Twitter and voiced their frustration at Ronaldo, Keane and a whole host of other Manchester United legends.
"Roy Keane said he was sure if Ronaldo was starting games consistently he would have scored at least 30 goals by now, I haven't heard his voice since they started playing Ronaldo regularly. Uncle Roy please come and explain to us what is happening" said Kombo.
Another user said, "I really think tenhag is playing ronaldo to prove a point to the so called club legends and to ronaldo himself. What would be roy keane's excuse now, when ronaldo is missing clear chances?? He slammed rashford for those types of misses."
"Roy Keane and co won’t have anything to say now, until ETH start to bench Ronaldo again. They are watching how our team has been performing bad whenever he starts but won’t see anything bad in that. Useless legends," said another user.
"Should ask the likes of Roy Keane, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and Scholes weather they think the performances are acceptable when Ronaldo plays! He slows our game down and that is a fact.. stats don’t lie that we are more fluid without Ronaldo."
