Roy Keane's secret Man United training ground visit revealed and the changes ten Hag has made in its aftermath

Erik ten Hag has introduced a strict culture at the Manchester United training ground after years of bust-ups and leaks about ill-discipline.

The former Ajax boss did not mess about in getting rid of club legend Cristiano Ronaldo after he did a tell-all interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV. Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford the Red Devils have failed to win the Premier League with limited success under Jose Mourinho and Dutch legend Louis Van Gaal in cup competitions. Ferguson ruled with an iron fist and it seems ten Hag is doing the same following a visit from ex-captain Roy Keane to the training ground.

Keane was invited to Carrington under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019. The Norwegian hoped the former Celtic player could pass on his experience of being club captain during United's heyday under Ferguson and articulate what it means to represent the club. However, details that emerged from the secret training ground visit suggested things didn't go as planned with Keane less than impressed with one unnamed individual, who looked disinterested as the seven-time Premier League winner addressed the players.

After being appointed last year ten Hag laid down the law with five commandments for his players to follow believed to stem from Keane's visit a couple of years earlier.

According to the Mirror, any concerns and problems should be directed at ten Hag rather than their agents who could leak them to the press. Ten Hag hoped that this would protect the integrity of the dressing room and improve the atmosphere within the squad.

A training ground source told out sister paper Mirror Sport at the time: "As you'd imagine Roy has strong views on what it takes to be a proper United player and he gave it to them straight.

"He wasn't impressed with one player who didn't seem to be all that interested and looked as if he'd rather be somewhere else."
