Roy Keane provides Wout Weghorst verdict after Manchester United struggles

Roy Keane has admitted he wants to see 'a bit more' from Wout Weghorst at Manchester United following the striker's initial struggles.

Weghorst joined United on loan from Burnley for the remainder of the season, but despite starting every game in all competitions since, the Dutchman has found the net only once.

Wednesday's 2-2 draw at home to Leeds United saw the forward hooked on the hour after failing to make an impact, and he watched from the bench as Marcus Rashford moved centrally and headed home a cross he could have only dreamed of.

Erik ten Hag decided to start Weghorst at Elland Road on Sunday, but the 30-year-old again struggled against an aggressive and well-drilled Leeds side, often finding himself unable to forge any clear-cut chances.

And it has now led to former Reds captain Keane delivering his verdict on the forward's form in a United shirt so far following his January arrival.

"Do you know he’s done okay," Keane told Sky Sports with the score 0-0 at half-time. "I think that’s the best compliment I can give him, you think playing for Man United they need a bit more, maybe he needs better service, but I want a bit more from him."

Having failed to find the net in five Premier League appearances for United, Weghorst will be desperate to add to his Carabao Cup finish against Nottingham Forest. But the striker is evidently trusted by Ten Hag to lead the line, even if may be down to a lack of alternatives.

Rashford scored almost instantly after being moved centrally at Old Trafford midweek but creates the most danger from the left, while Anthony Martial's relentless battle with his fitness following a string of injuries has kept him out of Ten Hag's recent plans.
