Roy Keane has revealed he would be open to returning to management in future following swirling rumours linking him with the Celtic job.
The Manchester United icon was spotted in the stands last weekend at Parkhead as the Hoops fell to Rangers before the international break. It was a result and performance which left Martin O'Neill "reflecting" on what might be next.
Keane's appearance also whipped up the rumour mill with some fans speculating, albeit on social media, that the former Ipswich Town and Sunderland boss could be in line for the Celtic dugout in the future.
It appeared to be all speculation with the current situation still up in the air and O'Neill in situ. But now, speaking to Micah Richards on Sky Sports, the Irishman has explained how he could be tempted to return to the sidelines down the line having made his name as a pundit in recent years.
"Strange enough, at weekends when I’m watching games, there are teams I watch and you go, ‘I think I could go in there and do a job'," he said when asked if he'd return.
“But it’s mostly at weekends. It’s not through the week. It’s not Monday morning when I’m having my scrambled egg at the local cafe, just having a paper. Yeah, all these managers driving up and down the motorways and stresses.
“But yeah, I do. I think there’s always something there. The pilot light is still on for something."
Probed further about what might happen should the opportunity present itself, Keane added: "If someone gave me a phone call and told you, you know what? Who knows?”
