Cristiano Ronaldo announced himself on the World Cup stage once again as he scored the opener in Portugal's 3-2 win over Ghana in the group stages. The 37-year-old won and subsequently scored a penalty that got the game underway for his side, though it was far from a comfortable ride.
The Black Stars struck back through Andre Ayew before Joao Felix and Rafael Leao appeared to put the game to bed with a quickfire double. Osman Bukari scored a late goal to keep them in it until Portuguese hearts were in mouths as Inaki Williams took the ball from goalkeeper Diogo Costa, but slipped at the crucial moment.
It prompted a huge reaction from the Portugal bench as their shot-stopper almost gave away the three points in failing to check if there were players behind him as he played out from the back. It didn't prove to be costly in the end, but it was an unforced error that could have been.

One of the key figures that was spotted on the bench was Ronaldo, who looked on in shock and waves his hands at the mistake made by Costa. He would later go on to console Costa after the game, who appeared to be shaken by the situation, despite it not resulting in a draw.
Former Manchester United teammate Roy Keane joked about the reaction, saying on ITV: "He's very lucky (Costa), and look at that face (Ronaldo). My goodness. It looks like he has just had a call (saying) that Newcastle are in for him. But it's unbelievable, you don't expect experienced players to be hanging on at the end."
It comes after the forward terminated his contract with United following his outburst in an interview where he spoke out against the club. Chelsea continue to be linked with a switch after missing out on him in the summer and they could now make their move as he's a free agent, however recent links to Newcastle could put them on alert.
