Roy Keane issues brutal Chelsea verdict on chance of FA Cup final glory against Liverpool

Roy Keane believes it will take "some effort" for Chelsea to beat Liverpool in next month's FA Cup final. The Blues will take on the Reds on May 14 following semi-final victories against Crystal Palace and Manchester City, respectively.

Chelsea have already faced Liverpool at Wembley this season in the Carabao Cup final, but lost in a dramatic penalty shootout. The Blues will be keen to take revenge on the Reds in just less than a month when the teams go head-to-head at England's national stadium.

Keane, though, sees Liverpool as the overwhelming favourites for the final and does not rate Chelsea's chances of lifting the trophy next month. He said on ITV: "If any team is going to beat Liverpool this season, it will have to be some effort.

"If you factor in the quality of the players, they look sharp, they look strong, great squad, great manager. They will take a lot of stopping." Keane added: "They're [Chelsea] not as sharp or as strong as Liverpool." Host Mark Pougatch then asked for clarification as he said: "You don't think so?" To which a strident Keane replied: "I know so."

Liverpool are still on for an unprecedented quadruple. The Reds are second in the Premier League table (a single point behind Manchester City), in the final of the FA Cup, in the semi-final of the Champions League and have already lifted the Carabao Cup. However, Thomas Tuchel isn't bothered about what the Reds are doing, when asked if he is keen to take revenge on the Merseyside club and prevent them from winning four trophies this season.

"I don't care about their other titles," Tuchel said. "We lost, of course, the final. We gave everything in that final as you know, it was a big match that went until the very last penalty. Of course, we were unlucky and lost it. We want to turn things around. It will not give us the Carabao Cup title back but we are here and were here last season in the FA Cup final and that means an unbelievable lot to us.

"It's the FA Cup, the most prestigious, most traditional cup in the world and played at Wembley. There are not a lot of bigger games to be part of and it's why we are grateful and we will be well prepared. We play against one of the strongest teams in the world which are in outstanding form given their results. So it will be a tough one and we will try to make life hard for them."
