Roy Keane claims Marcus Rashford ‘played like a child’ against Liverpool as he calls for Man United clear-out

Roy Keane criticised a number of Manchester United players as he called for a clear-out at the club following the heavy defeat at Anfield.

Liverpool beat their big rivals 4-0, the second dominant display over United of the season, with the visitors managing 28% possession and two shots across the 90 minutes.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Keane was less than impressed with what he saw from the visitors, singling out Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard as two players he believes need to be sold.

“This Manchester United team are well short on talent - they’re not as talented as they think,” Keane said.

“Then not to have the rest of it to back it up, the fighting spirit, energy.

“Jesse Lingard is coming on to try and save Man United. Jesse Lingard should have left Man United two years ago. He’s not good enough.

“Rashford played like a child up front. OK he wasn’t getting service, but the one or two bits he got in the first-half when you think he’s in on goal, a poor touch.

Before the match, Harry Maguire gave an interview where he defended himself from recent criticism, insisting he has not been as bad this season as some reports would suggest.

However, Keane was not in a generous mood towards the United captain either after he had another difficult game in defence.

“We were trying to help Maguire out before the match, give him a little bit of PR,” Keane said.

“The last goal, his passing and defending - not acceptable. Not good enough for Man United. Talk about a rebuilding job, they have to get players in first of all that are decent lads, good quality pros, talented.

“Man United fifth or sixth in the league. Unbelievable.”
