Rowdy passenger removed from easyJet flight after alleged 'drunken assault'

A rowdy plane passenger was removed from an easyJet flight from Belfast to Turkey yesterday afternoon following an alleged drunken assault.

The incident is said to have taken place on board the 2.30pm flight from Belfast International Airport to Dalaman in Turkey after 'a drunk passenger' disrupted the aircraft as it was about to take off.

A witness on the flight claims a female passenger assaulted a male passenger and was intoxicated at the time of the incident, Belfast Live reports.

The plane flew back to the airport where the passenger was met by police and evicted from the aircraft before the flight was able to continue on to its destination.

EasyJet has said it takes incidents of this nature very seriously and does not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour

An easyJet spokesperson said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY3055 from Belfast International Airport to Dalaman (Turkey) on 8 April returned to stand due to a passenger behaving disruptively.

"The aircraft was met by police and the passenger was offloaded before the flight continued to Dalaman.

"Our cabin crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

"Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard.

"The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet's priority.”
