VISAKHAPATNAM: Ahead of the ‘Chalo Andhra University’ programme to be held by a group supported by opposition parties on March 3, a section of university officials, professors and staff conducted a roundtable meeting on Tuesday.
The meeting was held at the TLN Sabha Hall of the varsity, and titled ‘Our AU progress – Social Justice’.
Head of the department of education, Prof T Sharon Raju, said the university has increased 490 seats in the engineering college to facilitate more admissions. “Ever since Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy assumed the vice-chancellor’s office in 2019, he has taken up several developmental initiatives for the progress of the university,” said Prof Raju.
Dean Prof N Satyanarayana alleged that a former professor and a few ex-research scholars launched a propaganda against the university for their selfish motives. “As their blackmailing tactics are no longer entertained here, they are mudslinging against the university,” said Prof Satyanarayana.
