Rory McIlroy has admitted it is a "shame" that three of Europe's greatest ever Ryder Cup golfers will not be able to compete at this year's event.
LIV Golf stars Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood have all resigned their membership from the DP World Tour, rendering them ineligible to ever feature in the Ryder Cup again.
The trio all gave up their memberships after Sports Resolutions ruled in favour of the DP World Tour amid a legal battle with the Saudi-backed breakaway circuit, meaning the Tour could fine any LIV golfers up to £100,000 and hit them with suspensions.
