Dundee United have accepted a six-figure offer from Fulham for talented teenager Rory MacLeod.
The 17-year-old is on the fringes of the United first-team having rose through the ranks in their coveted academy and he attracted interest from scouts south of the border. He has been a regular off the bench recently and the Scotland youth cap is expected to head to London in the next 24 to 48 hours for discussions. He could return to Tannadice next season on-loan as part of the deal and his development.
The English Premier League side have thrashed out an up front fee and other significant add-ons The Cottagers – who have a tie in with United – have stolen a march on rivals Southampton and Newcastle to land the in-demand striker. If all goes to plan then the deal will be done now and finalised when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.
Fulham have been impressed with the progress of MacLeod and he could become the latest talented Scot to head south. Macleod has seven caps for the Scotland U17s and is viewed as a future Scotland star if he continues his development.
