Rookie Vaughan earns clash with WSL leader Ferreira

Joel Vaughan has booked himself a shootout with current World Surf League leader Italo Ferreira, the Tokyo Olympic champion, after a convincing win in the last-32 round at Rip Curl Pro Portugal.

At famed Supertubos rookie Vaughan, a 21-year-old from Sydney, defeated experienced Moroccan Ramzi Boukhiam.

That completed a successful round for Australia with Ethan Ewing, now third  in the live WSL standings, beating Frenchman Gatien Delahaye earlier on Tuesday morning.
