LUCKNOW: The rooftop rainwater harvesting (RWH) system in 16 multi-storey Riverview apartments in Gomtinagar extension are lying dysfunctional while in one building it has not been constructed, resulting in lakhs of litres of rainwater going waste.

This was found in a preliminary survey evaluation report of rooftop RWH system in 17 multi-storey buildings of LDA conducted in May and June by Sarvebhyo Foundation, a body of groundwater experts affiliated with WaterAid India and Groundwater Action Group (GAG). As per rules, from 2004 onwards buildings above 3000 sq ft area should have fully functional RWH to recharge ground water levels. It is LDA's responsibility to maintain systems.
