RONNY DEILA reckons Standard Liege fans are 'maybe better' than those at his former club Celtic after he guided his team to a stunning win over Belgian champions Brugge.
The Norwegian was in charge of Celtic from 2014 to 2016 and won two league titles and a League Cup during his spell in Glasgow.
He since moved to the USA with New York City where he won the MLS Cup last year before agreeing to move to Belgium with Standard Liege in the summer.
Deila has quickly become a hero at his new club after guiding them to fourth spot - they narrowly avoided relegation last season before he arrived - and masterminding a famous 3-0 win over Brugge at the weekend.
And he has been blown away by the Standard fans.
He said: "This was a day that I will remember for the rest of my life. These are special moments.
"I was at Celtic before, but this is the same and maybe better.
"What the people here do to support the team is incredible. I am very proud of the players and the team.
"Winning is always good, but the most important thing is that you give everything. We are nothing without the players. They are everything.
"We have so much talent in this group. They showed what level they are at. Club Brugge is the strongest team I have seen in a long time. That also says something about our players."
