A $132,000 GoFundMe campaign created amid radio host Ronn Owens’ health problems became the focus of a federal review after he and his wife sought bankruptcy protection. Court records examined by the US Trustee showed that only about $17,000 of the money was used for medical and pharmacy expenses, while much larger amounts went towards mortgage payments, contributions to businesses and other spending. The review did not result in criminal charges against Owens or his wife, but it raised concerns about whether donors received what they expected from the campaign.
