Ronan Keating emotionally shares heartbreaking regret over his late mother's death

Ronan Keating has paid tribute to his late mother, 24 years on from her tragic death.

The Boyzone singer, 44, took to Instagram on Tuesday to mark the anniversary of the day his beloved mum Marie Marie sadly passed away from metastatic breast cancer.

Speaking to his 436,000 followers, the Irish singer expressed his regret that his mother never got to meet his five children.

"24 years ago today I lost my mum. My family and I went through the most horrible situation losing our mum," Ronan began in a moving video shared to his profile.

"Marie Keating, she died 24 years ago. She was 51 years of age, she died of cancer.

"She was our best friend, she was a legend, she was as cool as they come. The best mum."

The One Show presenter then went on to share his heartbreak over the fact his late mother never got to meet her grandchildren.

Ronan and wife Storm, 40, share the singer's two youngest children together, four-year-old son Cooper and one-year-old daughter Coco.

The Life is a Rollercoaster singer is also father to three older children, Jack, 22, Missy, 20, and Ali, 16, from his first marriage to ex-wife Yvonne Connolly - all born prior to Marie's passing.

"She never got to meet her grandchildren, she's got so many incredible grandchildren," Ronan continued on Tuesday.

"It's heartbreaking that she never got to meet them. I wonder about the conversation I'd have with my mum today, about my children, about my life.

"So many things in the 24 years that I've been through and I've done that I'd love to share with mum.

The dad-of-five continued: "When your mum puts her arms around you and says 'everything's going to be OK' - that feeling. I don't get that anymore and there's nothing like that feeling.

"When you're going through a tough time and your ma tells you 'everything's going to be alright'. Well then you think it's going to be alright. That's what happens."

Marie sadly died when Ronan was just 20-years-old.

Alongside his siblings and father Gerry, the Magic Radio presenter created the Marie Keating Foundation in his late mother's honour.

Many were moved by Ronan's moving video on Tuesday, with fans and famous faces sending the star love underneath his emotional post.

"Big love brother xxx thank you for sharing your feelings so important...sending much love to all your gang," TV chef Jamie Oliver told the Boyzone singer.

Atomic Kitten singer Jenny Frost related to Ronan's pain, writing: "Oh bless your heart. I felt every word of that & do on a very regular basis.

"So hard seeing our beautiful babies growing & knowing they’re missing out on the best Nannas in the world. But grateful our angels sent us angels. Big love to you sweetheart xx."

"Remember the Superquinn sausages and the bacon she’d give us wrapped in tinfoil for our trips to Belfast," the former Coronation Street star recalled on Tuesday.

"And the miraculous medals and rosery beads she’d wrap around our rear view mirrors in our cars to keep us safe !"

"Now she’d make sure we gave them back on the way home lol. Marie the legend."

"Never forgotten by anyone She knew," Keith emotionally concluded.
