Ronan Keating has discussed becoming a grandfather for the first time after his Love Island star son Jack’s shock baby news.
Jack, 23, surprised fans recently by revealing he had become a dad just months after leaving the Love Island villa.
Until now, Boyzone star Ronan, 46, had stayed tight-lipped about it all.
Appearing for his usual hosting gig on The One Show on Monday, his co-presenter Jermaine Jenas, 40, decided to broach the subject by saying: “Well said grandad.”
Ronan replied by telling him and the viewers: “Yes I am. My son had a gorgeous baby.”
Jenas continued: “You prefer to be called something else don’t you?” before Ronan said he prefers “Pops”.
Reality TV star Jack appeared every inch the doting dad as he shared a picture of him cradling his baby daughter on Instagram.
“Welcome to the world my little [princess]” he wrote, using a princess emoji.
The announcement left some fans scratching their heads given his recent stint on the dating show.
According to The Sun, the baby is believed to have been conceived one month before he entered Casa Amor and failed to find love on the ITV2 show.
Giving a statement to the publication, he said: “My daughter’s mother and I are not together, however we look forward to co-parenting and giving our little girl the best support system that she needs.
“This is an exciting new chapter for me and my family and I am completely besotted already.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a father and give my daughter the most amazing life.”
