Ronaldo agrees with Mikel Arteta on Arsenal star labelled 'one of the best in the world'

Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazario has labelled Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus as one of the "best in the world" during the World Cup. The 25-year-old - who joined the Gunners in the summer - has shown plenty of ability on the domestic stage, but will be hoping he can translate that to tournament success.

With the Selecao gunning for another title to add to their growing collection, Jesus will likely have to play a role to help them reach that final goal. The striker struggled in the previous tournament for Brazil, causing concern for his future, but his comeback to the side has been praised by Ronaldo.

He told GE Globo: "Gabriel [Jesus] today is one of the best strikers in the world and much more mature than in 2018. The goals will come naturally and this concern should not cross his mind. All he has to do is get on the field and do what he knows how to do.”

The claim as well as the advice is reminiscent of what current Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has said on the striker in recent weeks. While Jesus has impressed, his goal drought of failing to find the back of the net for ten appearances has been a cause of concern after a swift start.

Despite that, the former Manchester City man adds plenty to their play and the manager has backed him to return to form: “It does bother him for sure,” Arteta told BT Sport on his goal scoring woes after victory over FC Zurich in the Europa League. “Knowing him, when he scores two he wants to score four.

"Today he had a couple of good chances as well, but what he generates for the team is amazing. Last week he gave three assists, today he was involved in every action again. The goals will come.”

While both have had plenty of praise for Jesus, the message is clear that relaxation and a calmness to finishing chances is required to elevate him to the next level.
