Ron Harper Jr. lifted Rutgers over Indiana with a stunning last-second shot

Ron Harper Jr. knew he would have to enter his senior season carrying Rutgers the way he always has. The son of the long-time NBA starter, this year was supposed to be his peak; his college magnum opus to complete a wonderful amateur legacy. When push came to shove, the Scarlet Knights would need their star, and he’d have to be ready.

Wednesday night in Assembly Hall against Indiana was an excellent example of Harper Jr.’s clutch gene. Rutgers was -5.5 (+180 ML) at Tipico Sportsbook to pull off the road upset in the pregame. That made this night all the more worthy of an entry to a year he wanted to be remarkable.

With the madness of March just around the corner, and the game tied at 63 with seconds remaining, Harper Jr. made his mark in the best way possible:

A last-second game-winner.

(Red) onions, (red) onions.

The loss likely ends Indiana’s bid for the upcoming NCAA tournament. It certainly keeps Rutgers’ alive. And when you’re a bubble team seeking pockets of air this time of year, that’s all you can ask for. The Scarlet Knights need only thank their hero, Harper Jr., for such a blessing.
