Romelu Lukaku set for Inter Milan talks with future unclear following managerial change at Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku’s long-term future is unclear following Graham Potter’s arrival at Chelsea, Inter Milan have confirmed.

The Belgian international was allowed to re-join the Serie A giants on a season-long loan only a year after leaving having seen his relationship with Thomas Tuchel deteriorate.

While there is thought to be an informal agreement about a second year, Tuchel’s sacking obviously complicates matters.

Chelsea have since signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, although Lukaku still has four years to run on a sizeable contract at Stamford Bridge.

Clearly, the landscape has changed at Chelsea, with Potter having signed a five-year deal in west London following the shock decision to sack Tuchel on Wednesday.

Of the changes and potential ramifications for Lukaku, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Sports Italia: “It’s fresh news. I don’t know what the effects of the change of coach will be.

“We want to get the best performance out of Lukaku, and then at the end of the season we will sit down and talk about him with Chelsea.

“I don’t know if a change of coach means that his return is automatic, it’s difficult to predict today.”
