Romelu Lukaku makes Chelsea transfer decision after Thomas Tuchel confirms unhappiness

Following the decision from the UK government to sanction Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, there were always going to be players linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Romelu Lukaku being one of them will come as no surprise to Blues supporters, with the Belgian not enjoying the most ideal start to life back in west London.

According to Gazzetta, via Sport Witness, the 28-year-old striker is open to returning to Inter Milan at the end of the season, despite only moving back to Chelsea from the Italian club last summer.

Lukaku more than hinted at one day moving back to the San Siro in that infamous interview with Sky Italia in December.

He said: "How I left Inter, how I communicated with the fans, this bothers me because it is not the right time now, but even when I left it was not the right time.

"Now I think it is right to speak because I have always said that I have Inter in my heart, I will return to play there, I really hope so.

"I am in love with Italy, this is rightly the time to talk and let people know what really happened without talking badly about people because I am not like that.

"I want to say a big apology to the Inter fans because I think the way I left should have been different.

"I really hope in the depths of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but at a still good level to hopefully win more."

Lukaku came out and publicly apologised for those comments, but a few months on and reports from Italy suggest that he wants to return to the San Siro.

As well as this, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are now chasing the Belgium international, as well as his Chelsea team-mate Timo Werner, with their hopes of Erling Haaland signing being dashed in recent days, with the Borussia Dortmund and Norway attacker said to be on his way to Manchester City in the summer.

Whether it's Inter or Barcelona, Lukaku looks like he is open to leaving Chelsea in the summer.

The striker has not started in the Premier League for the Blues since their 1-0 win against Crystal Palace last month - with Kai Havertz's form keeping him out of the team.

Thomas Tuchel, when speaking earlier this week, admitted that Lukaku is unhappy with the current situation.

Tuchel said: "Romelu fights for it like everybody else. This is what we need. He is as positive as can be.

"He does not like the situation, nobody does. He handles it very professionally. I try to do my best to be respectful and supportive like for everybody else.

"Of course, it is not easy in the moment for him, but he is a member of the team, an important member of the team."

As it stands, Chelsea are not allowed to buy or sell players because of the sanctions imposed, but they are set to be reviewed in May before the transfer window opens.
