Major changes on the way to Dublin's bus network on the southside have been delayed as BusConnects Phase 4 rollout has been deferred until October.
Phase 4 of the Bus Connects plan was due to rollout this month but the NTA have delayed it by two months so they "can be confident that they have adequate driver numbers to cover the increased service levels that customers will enjoy under the new arrangements."
Phase 4 will see further bus routes replaced with 'Spines', and radial routes which run with high frequency into the city centre. The G-Spine (G1/G2) will replace the existing number 40 route, and the 79/79A will be replaced by the new number 60 route.

The new G-Spine will see an increase in the total number of buses operating between the Civic Offices in Ballyfermot and Spencer Dock via the existing number 40 route.
BusConnects Phase 3 rolled out in May and made major changes to the bus network in north Dublin.
It saw the introduction of the N4 and N6 orbital routes routes that replaced the replace the 17a and 31d. They were designed to link suburbs together without having to travel through the city centre.
