Rohit Sharma surpasses Chris Gayle's record for most sixes against a single opponent

NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma added another feather to his cap by breaking yet another record previously held by West Indies legend Chris Gayle. This achievement took place during the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rohit now holds the record for hitting the most sixes against a single opponent in the ODI format, surpassing Gayle's previous record of 85 sixes against England. Rohit has managed an impressive total of 86 sixes against Australia in the 50-over format.

Notably, this is the second record set by Gayle that Rohit has surpassed in this World Cup. Just a few days ago, Rohit broke Gayle's record for the most sixes in ODIs.

During the final match, Rohit showcased his aggressive batting style, scoring 47 runs off 31 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes. He reached this milestone by smashing a six against Australia's bowler Glenn Maxwell.

Rohit's exceptional performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup has been pivotal for India, as he has scored a total of 597 runs in 11 matches. His leadership and consistent contributions with the bat have played a crucial role in India's journey throughout the tournament.
