Rodri suspended for Arsenal clash after Man City star sees red against Nottingham Forest

Rodri will be suspended for Manchester City’s trip to Arsenal after he was shown a straight red card against Nottingham Forest.

Pep Guardiola’s side enjoyed a stress-free first 45 minutes at the Etihad, with goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland putting them 2-0 up at the break and in complete charge.

However, they were reduced to ten men within a minute of the restart, as Rodri was given his marching orders following a clash with Morgan Gibbs-White.

Rodri saw the ball out of play for a throw-in and reacted angrily to a shove from Gibbs-White, the midfielder briefly grabbing the Forest man’s throat. He was shown a red card, with VAR confirming that decision.

It means Rodri will be suspended for City’s next three domestic fixtures, starting with a Carabao Cup trip to Newcastle on Wednesday night.

The Spaniard will also be unavailable to face Wolves next weekend, and crucially City will have to do without him when they travel to face Arsenal on October 8.
