Rod Stewart To Return To Glastonbury Festival In 2025

Rod Stewart has been announced as the headliner for the 'legends' slot at the upcoming Glastonbury Festival in June 2025. This news comes more than two decades after Stewart last headlined the renowned music festival. The 79-year-old rock star expressed his excitement on social media, stating that he is 'proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June.'

Stewart, who previously headlined Glastonbury in 2002, is the first musical act to be confirmed for the festival, which will be held at Worthy Farm in the southwest of England. This year's festival featured Shania Twain in the coveted legends slot and drew around 200,000 music fans, with headliners including Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA.

Having risen to fame in the London blues scene of the late 1960s, Stewart fronted the Jeff Beck Group before joining the Faces and eventually embarking on a successful solo career. His iconic hits such as 'Maggie May,' 'Tonight’s the Night,' and 'Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?' have solidified his status as a music legend.

Despite turning 80 in January, Stewart recently announced that he would be scaling back on large-scale world tours but emphasized that he has no plans to retire from music after six decades in the industry. In a social media post, he stated, 'I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.'

Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis expressed her delight at having Stewart return to the festival, describing it as 'everything we could wish for.' Following the 2025 edition, Glastonbury will take a break, known as a 'fallow year,' to allow the farmland that hosts the festival to rejuvenate.
