Rod Stewart shares snap in Celtic tracksuit as Piers Morgan brands him a 'ledge'

Piers Morgan has shared a snap of Sir Rod Stewart, with the journalist branding the rocker "classy" and a "ledge" as he posed in a Celtic tracksuit.

Pictured in the Hoops gear and holding a double-page spread newspaper, Piers re-shared the snap on Instagram. It comes as the 78-year-old was recently spoken about in a column of The Sun newspaper, according to the Daily Record.

And to say cheers, the Hoops-daft singer sent the snap with the broadcaster then posting how grateful he was to be thanked, explaining how rarely such gratitude is shared with him.

Taking to Instagram the former Good Morning Britain host said: "Very few stars ever say thanks for a nice column about them, even fewer text a pic of themselves holding it with a note of gratitude. But then very few stars are as classy as Sir Rod. As my sons would say, what a Ledge."

In his column, the former Good Morning Britain host touched on Rod's generosity from housing a family of Ukrainian refugees to phoning into Sky News and offering to pay for NHS scans for people who could not afford them.

The TalkTV host called him "Britain’s most genuine, down-to-earth and amusing star" whilst also noting that there is "a lot more to Rod than just a great raspy voice, iconic spiky barnet and wise-cracking sense of humour."

Fans took to the comments of Piers' post to praise the Maggie May singer with one wrote: "Everybody on the planet loves this guy … met him briefly once and he was an absolute gentleman"

Another said: "He is a ledge isn't he, seems to get nicer and kinder and more lovely the older he gets. I reckon he does loads for charity that we won't know about. Everyone loves him".

"Man has made it to his age & everyone loves him. That's saying something about the quality of the guy" said a third.

"That’s because Rod is old school and grateful," wrote a fourth while someone else added: "And he is a good old Glasgow Celtic supporter."
