Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster 'very honoured' to serve the Queen as police officer

Penny Lancaster took to social media to celebrate the Queen for her platinum jubilee as she revealed she's "very honoured" to have met her and served for her.

Penny, who is married to rock-star Rod Stewart, previously worked as a model and photographer before earning her badge as a Police Officer last April.

The Loose Women star, 51, has been working as a special constable with the City of London police.

The mum-of-two opted for a career change and has worked towards becoming a police officer after starring on Channel 4's reality show Famous and Fighting Crime.

Penny wrote: "A radiant smile from our Queen, as she begins her 70th anniversary celebrations. I feel very honoured to have had the privilege of meeting Her Majesty and this year to serve her, in uniform. #platinumjubilee #cityoflondonpolice #specialconstable "

Her fans rushed to the comments to share their congratulations to the Queen and compliment Penny.

One wrote: "A truly beautiful photo. Thank you for posting. I remember the first time l saw the Queen was at the Melb Olympic Games. 1956. My first celebrity. Best wishes in regard to your career with the London Police. Cheers F"

"She’s a very special person. God bless the Queen," penned another.

Another said: "God save our gracious Queen - she is the epitome of all things British! God bless her, there will never be another like her "

A fourth quipped: "You are sooo lucky to have met such a special person"

Both Rod and Penny have spoken out multiple times about how worried the Maggie May singer gets as his wife is on duty.

Speaking on Loose Women, Penny revealed a terrifying story in November 2018: “I was sitting in the briefs, with stab vests on in the van, and literally responding to whatever call came through, so you never knew what was round the corner.

“I didn’t have mace spray or a baton, so I had nothing to protect myself other than the call out, where I could call for backup.”

Penny described a moment where she was threatened by a drug addict.

She said: “There was a lady who I was chasing, a possible theft from a shop.

“After I chased after her, when she finally slowed down I realised she was a drug addict, literally frothing at the mouth. Dark circles, shaking.

“As I approached her she threatened me with her needle.

“We had got a warning that she'd been called previously and threatened the shopkeeper with her needle.

“So at that point I was terrified, yes, I was terrified.

“You find out whether you’re a fighter, you freeze or flight.

“No one can be accused of being one or the other. I am a fighter, officers needed to (hold me back) and said ‘Not yet Penny’”.

She said that Rod was also shaken by his wife’s early experience fighting crime.

Penny said: “My husband was terrified with the stories I was coming out with.

“I was coming home at four in the morning.”

Last year, Rod opened up about this when on Magic Radio: “I don't sleep, I don't sleep when she's out on the beat. Until I know, she's safe in the car.”
