Rod Stewart 'impatiently awaiting summer' as Edinburgh gig tickets go on sale

Sir Rod Stewart has told his fans that he is "impatiently awaiting summer" as tickets for his gig at Edinburgh Castle Esplanade go on sale. Rod, 78, will entertain in the capital on Thursday, June 6, following concerts in Plymouth, Hull, Northampton and Durham.

Taking to Instagram on Friday afternoon, Sir Rod told his 1.2 million followers "we'll all be dancing under the stars".

In the post, he said: "Tickets for my UK Tour are on sale now. I'm impatiently awaiting this summer playing at a variety of special venues-football, cricket and rugby stadiums, estates and castles.

"We'll all be dancing under the stars."

And it's got many people excited, one person replied: "Just bought Edinburgh castle tickets can’t wait to see u again Rod." Another wrote: "I’ll be there in Badminton Park for the 188th time I’ve seen you live on stage."

A third said: "Got 2 venues already ! Can’t wait!" While a fourth penned: "1st row in Edinburgh."

Yesterday, the rocker said he was "delighted" after one of his songs have been chosen to feature on the King's Coronation playlist. His cover of Curtis Mayfield's song ‘People Get Ready’, which he recorded with the late Jeff Beck, has been added to the list.

Celtic-daft Rod confirmed last week that he would not be preforming at the Coronation concert in May, because he will be in Las Vegas.

In a post on the social media site on Thursday afternoon, he said: "Delighted to see that they’ve chosen our version of Curtis Mayfield's song ‘People Get Ready’ with my old mate Jeff Beck to be on the official King’s Coronation playlist.

He added: "What an honour, Jeff would no doubt have been delighted too. Thank you."
