The Israeli military reported that five projectiles were fired towards the city of Haifa in northern Israel. Despite their defense systems attempting to intercept them, several rockets managed to hit various locations in the city. The fire and rescue department in Haifa confirmed that they were responding to multiple sites where projectiles or shrapnel had landed, with debris from intercepted rockets scattered around. One of the rockets struck near a residential building on Shunit Street.
First responders are currently on the scene assessing the situation to determine if there are any injuries. This marks the first instance during the current conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon that rockets have directly hit Haifa.
Israeli officials revealed that Hezbollah had launched over 100 rockets across the border on the same day. In response, Israel continued its extensive bombing campaign targeting southern Beirut and surrounding areas in Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also reported sirens sounding in the upper Galilee area, where approximately 15 projectiles were observed crossing from Lebanon. Some of the rockets were successfully intercepted, while others were seen falling in the region.
