Rochelle Humes says she wishes more men supported women like husband Marvin does

Rochelle Humes wishes more men were like her husband of almost 10 years, Marvin Humes.

The former Saturdays singer first began dating the JLS hunk in 2010, and the couple moved in together three months later.

Marvin popped the question while the couple enjoyed a romantic holiday on the Caribbean Island of Antigua over the New Year in 2011, and they tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony in July 2012 at Blenheim Palace.

Rochelle, who shares three children with the 36-year-old, appeared in a video for Glamour UK magazine to celebrate International Women’s Day, and the couple stressed how important it is for men to support and uplift women.

The presenter and businesswoman said more men should be like her husband, and revealed just how supportive Marvin is of her career.

“We need men like him because, though in my career I have always been surrounded by so many strong amazing women, we can only go so far,” she said.

“We need to be singing from the same hymn sheet, we need to bridge that gap between men and women … otherwise we are on separate journeys,” the Hit List presenter stated.

Marvin went on to discuss male mental health, and said it can have a negative impact on women if men bottle up their feelings and don’t prioritise their wellbeing.

“You know, it’s okay to cry, and it’s OK to not be happy about some things,” he shared.

“Bottling up those feelings can be such a bad thing, and for some men it can have a really bad impact on women,” Marvin added.

Last year, the couple revealed the secrets to their happy marriage, and said it was important to “always have each other’s backs”.

“Rochelle is beautiful inside and out. She is my best friend. It is as simple as that. I love her more every day,” he told Mirror Online.

“No marriage is perfect but we are a team. We love working together, which is quite unique. But we try to focus on being husband and wife, best friends and good parents first and foremost above everything else,” Marvin added.

The loved-up couple were also planning on renewing their vows in July, to mark their 10th wedding anniversary.

“We are going to go abroad somewhere and have an intimate service. We wanted the kids to be a part of it,” he confirmed.

“It is nice to celebrate and acknowledge what we have achieved.”
