Rochelle Humes has spoken out about the importance of self-care as she partners with Colgate for the launch of its #BeUltra campaign, celebrating the new Colgate Max White Ultra whitening toothpaste.
As a successful entrepreneur and mum-of-three, who is “always on the go”, Humes, 33, recognises that taking care of herself and her appearance, including her teeth, leads to her feeling like the best version of herself.
Colgate recently ran a study that revealed 40 per cent of British women struggle with self-confidence, and that 46 per cent of the nation did not feel their best selves, leading to the inspiration for the brand’s Be Ultra movement.
Humes believes feeling confident “all starts with a smile” and spoke with the Evening Standard about taking care of her teeth, along with other measures she exercises in feeling good about herself, following Colgate’s campaign and teeth-whitening product.
“I’m all about confidence and helping people feel their best. It’s something that I always teach my kids, to be confident and everyone pushing to feel their best,” Humes said.
“That’s what drew me to it. We all feel better while having a good smile, that’s what I teach my children, too. We all feel best when we’re taking care of ourselves and I’m such an advocate for wellness and being the best version of you.”
As much of her job requires being on camera, Humes explained that taking care of her teeth has hugely boosted her self-esteem when it comes to her career. “I talk for a living and I’m kind of aware of my smile, I suppose, and using a product that can make a visible difference in three days,” Humes said.
Colgate’s Max Whitening Ultra toothpaste is clinically proven to make teeth whiter in three days with twice daily brushing, thanks to a revolutionary whitening technology that lifts away deep stains. “You know, if I’ve got something coming up that I want to be feeling my best for, for me, that makes the world of difference,” Humes added.
The brand ambassador shared that taking time out for herself to carry out self-care practices, whether it be cleaning her teeth, working out or reading a book, has been vital in her daily routine – and she has seen both positive mental and physical results.
“For me, I get the best out of life when I wake up early,” the presenter revealed. “It’s really good for my mind. I try and give myself an hour in the morning, before the kids wake up. I get up slowly and then I’m ready for their demands when they rise!”
Humes, who launched vegan-friendly family product line My Little Coco last May, said that fuelling her creativity and ambition as an entrepreneur has also helped with her healthy mindset, and credits this drive for herself as the key to the success of her business ventures.
“I’m a curious person and there’s lots of stuff that I’ve always wanted to explore,” Humes said. “And I think it’s just having the confidence and the belief that I’m going to work hard and give it a go.”
She added: “And I’m not going to be the best overnight, but if you work hard enough and believe it enough, you create your own luck with things.”
