Rocco Vata nears Celtic transfer exit as switch to Watford 'agreed'

Rocco Vata has reportedly agreed a Celtic transfer exit to join Watford.

The 19-year-old is set to head to England for a compensation fee after his contract expired at Celtic.

Vata was offered fresh terms at Celtic but will reportedly choose a switch to Watford over remaining at Parkhead.

Sky Sports claim Vata has completed a medical ahead of a four-year deal with the club holding the option to extend for a further season.

Journalist Anthony Joseph reports: "Celtic forward Rocco Vata has agreed terms on a four-year deal with Watford.

"It’s understood the Championship side will have the option to extend his contract by a further year, under the agreement.

"Vata, 19, completed his medical yesterday."

Should a deal be agreed between Vata and Watford, then Celtic would be due a £237k compensation fee.

Vata's father Rudi recently addressed his future on Off The Ball, saying: "I always felt that you need to build your first house in the place that you are born and in the place that you learn the ABC of football.

"And he has done that. He has gone through the alphabet, going through all the stages. I think and I always thought he can do it there (at Celtic) and he can make it big.

"I remember Rocco, he's been different since he was born, a different child. I have another boy, nephews I've seen children playing and being around the house - I think he's been unique since he was born.

"I think God chose him for his own reason and I think he realised that because I always told him 'God has given you something very special, just work on it'.

"I think his attitude, his mentality, he builds up those things that I always told him to work hard, to build up the mentality, the character and personality.

"He built those three things and those three things nobody can take from you. I think now he's ready to get to first-team football and explode his talent.

"And hopefully it'll be at Celtic. But until it's done, you never know."
