Robin Propper is on the brink of finalising his transfer to Rangers, having arrived in the UK for a medical examination, according to reports.
The Rangers Review broke the news on Wednesday that manager Philippe Clement had identified Propper as a key target following Connor Goldson’s recent move to Aris Limassol.
And now the 30-year-old defender is in the country and all going well is expected to make his debut in the Scottish Premiership opener against Heart of Midlothian this weekend.
This acquisition from FC Twente would mark Clement's eighth signing of the summer window.
As Rangers prepare to kick off their title challenge at Tynecastle Park, Clement is also set to give competitive debuts to players like Connor Barron, Jefte and Vaclav Cerny.
If all paperwork is completed promptly, Propper could be in line to feature against their Gorgie hosts.
The Dutchman is anticipated to arrive in Glasgow and the final stages of his contract should be confirmed within the next 48 hours.

Propper will fill the void left by Goldson, who concluded his six-year tenure at Ibrox earlier this week.
The Englishman posted an emotional farewell on Instagram and said: "Thank you to my managers, the trust you have always shown in me from the day I've walked through the door and the connections we made will always be remembered.
"To my teammates, there have been many. Bit's it's been a pleasure to share that dressing room with you, the laughter, the friendships that I have made and the memories will last a lifetime.
"To all the staff in the club. Thank you! You've always made me feel at home and got me through many difficult moments. I have met some of the best men and women who would give their life to this football club and have done everything in my time to help me and my family.
"Thank you to my family, my wife and my boys for going through this journey with me, I know I wasn't easy to live with but we shared days and nights at this club that we wouldn't have thought were even possible.
"Rangers football club will always have a place in my heart. I will always follow. And I will always cheer, because when you have been a part of this special club I don't think it ever leaves you. Thank you and the best of luck for the future."
