Robin Minz, 'Chris Gayle of Ranchi', is back in IPL after superbike crash kept him away

When the Indian cricket team landed in Ranchi for the Test against England earlier this year, Francis Minz, cricketer Robin's father, was on duty as a security official at the Bisra Munda Airport. He greeted the players and had a long chat with Shubman Gill, who was appointed Gujarat Titans captain for the 2024 edition.

In December 2023, Robin was picked up by GT at the IPL auction for Rs 3.6 crore and Gill informed Francis that the family would be flown to the city where Robin was slated to make his IPL debut. The big hitter, popularly known as "Chris Gayle of Ranchi", was making the right noises in the cricketing circles but the dream run was halted by a bike accident just before he was set to join GT's camp ahead of the 2024 edition.
