Robert Snodgrass opens up on wearing Celtic colours to Rangers training

Robert Snodgrass admits he used to wear Celtic shorts into Rangers training when he was a youngster.

The 36-year-old, who had spells at West Ham, Leeds United and Norwich City, is currently without a club after leaving Hearts last season.

And he opened up on his youth days in Scottish football, including playing for both sides of the Glasgow divide.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "I was at Rangers Boys Club and I was in at Celtic, then Blackburn Rovers tried to take us down there when I was a young kid.

"They tried to do the same again when I was 16. Obviously Livingston were really good where I made my debut.

"I was round about the first-team early doors which I think is vital."

Host Alan Brazil then joked about Snodgrass wearing Celtic colours into Rangers training to which the former Scotland international responded: "When I went to Rangers, the actual pro-team, I used to wear the old Celtic bumblebee shorts under the Rangers shorts.

"It wasn't a dig at them - it was just the only shorts I had - they were my brothers shorts.

"Looking back it was a good time getting into Rangers, Celtic, Hamilton and other teams."
