The offense of the New York Jets looked non-existent over the last three-plus weeks of the regular season, games in which the Jets still had a chance to reach the playoffs. That offense totaled 15 points and zero touchdowns over the final three games and scored just four touchdowns over the final six.
A lot of that falls on offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. Entering Week 18, the Jets’ offense ranked 25th in Football Outsiders’ DVOA metric. So it’s natural to question if LaFleur, who came over with head coach Robert Saleh from San Francisco, will return to the position in 2023.
Saleh would not comment much when asked that after the game Sunday, saying he needs to go through his process and make the best decision for the team.

It goes without saying that the offense absolutely must be fixed next season in what very likely is a make-or-break season for Saleh and maybe even general manager Joe Douglas.
Saleh’s “process” begins Monday in what is going to be a long but very interesting offseason of decisions, not the least of which being at the quarterback position, where every veteran quarterback available will be speculated to potentially join the Jets. The question becomes will LaFleur oversee that quarterback?
