Jets head coach Robert Saleh met with the media Monday, the day after his team’s 30-28 win over the Washington Commanders.
During the session, Saleh provided injury updates on quarterback Zach Wilson and tight end Jeremy Ruckert. Here’s what Saleh had to say about two of his offensive players ahead of Thursday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
QB Zach Wilson
Zach Wilson remains in the concussion protocol as of Monday after missing Sunday’s game. He’s been out since late in the second quarter of Week 14 against the Texans.
Saleh hopes to have more information Tuesday. He is hopeful Wilson can play but said he is “not out of the woods yet.” With the Jets on a short week, Wilson should be considered questionable at best. It could be another week with Trevor Siemian starting and Brett Rypien backing him up.
TE Jeremy Ruckert
Jeremy Ruckert is also dealing with a concussion. He left the Washington game early and has now found himself in protocol. Because of the short week not allowing enough time, Ruckert has been ruled out for Thursday.
The Jets have Kenny Yeboah behind Tyler Conklin and can elevate Nick Bawden and use him in an H-back role. While more unlikely to happen, the Jets can also elevate rookie tight end Zack Kuntz from the practice squad as well.
