The Jets are arguably the most highly anticipated team of the 2023 NFL season. Yes, Aaron Rodgers is the main attraction, but he’s not the only huge addition made to the offense.
Former Vikings tailback Dalvin Cook was brought into the fold and Breece Hall is set to make his return to the team after the running back’s 2022 season was cut short due to a devastating knee injury in Week 7. Ahead of the season-opener on Monday, coach Robert Saleh addressed how he planned to use the backfield duo.
“I don’t know if I want to call it snap count, but we are gonna be smart with them,” Saleh said when discussing Hall’s and Cook’s usage in Week 1. “We’ll continue to evaluate and build off what we think Monday needs to be.”
#Jets HC Robert Saleh confirmed that Breece Hall & Dalvin Cook will play against the #Bills in Week 1, Breece getting day off today for maintenance, but nothing to worry about + said there won’t be a snap count per se but they will be smart w/ how they use him 🎥 @nyjets… pic.twitter.com/1d89yIYS8S

Before tearing his ACL and meniscus, Hall was on his way to a breakout rookie campaign for New York. He rushed for 463 yards and four touchdowns in seven games last year while Cook had his usual success in Minnesota, tallying 1,173 yards and eight scores on the ground in 2022. Although Saleh didn’t say either were on a snap count, it appears both running backs, along with Michael Carter, will get their fair share of snaps in the first game of the season.
The Jets start their year on Monday Night Football against the Bills at 8:15 p.m.
