Robert Lewandowski, Darwin Nunez: Arsenal striker hunt latest as Edu eyes dream transfer window

With Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah appear set to wave goodbye to the Emirates in the summer, the Gunners are planning to invest in their forward line.

As previously reported by football.london , the Gunners will target two centre-forwards this summer as Mikel Arteta aims to put the finishing touches to his first-team squad overhaul. A number of names have consequently been linked with a switch to north London, but there's no definitive answer to Mikel Arteta's problem just yet.

With so many top forwards reportedly on the Gunners' radar, football.london has decided to take a look at what's being said around the rumour mill.

Alexander Isak

The Gunners have been linked with Real Sociedad star Isak for some time now. After missing out on Dusan Vlahovic in January, many have presumed that Isak is the Gunners' first-choice target. According to SPORT, the Gunners have opened talks with his entourage regarding a move to the Emirates Stadium but Barcelona remain contenders, with the Swede thought to be prioritising a switch to the Camp Nou.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also thought to be interested.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Another option that's been mooted is Calvert-Lewin. The 25-year-old has endured an injury-ridden campaign thus far, scoring just three goals in 11 appearances. That is a far cry from the sensational form he exhibited last season in which he scored 21 times across all competitions for Everton.

According to The Sun , the north London club are keen to strengthen their squad and are interested in signing Calvert-Lewin, Isak and Wolves star Ruben Neves. There have also been reports to suggest that Everton are interested in Real Madrid flop Luka Jovic, which would incidentally pave the way for the Englishman to move to north London should he wish to.

Darwin Nunez

Arsenal are tracking Benfica striker Nunez ahead of a potential summer move, football.london understands. The forward has scored 26 goals in 33 games this season, including the winning strike in the recent Champions League last-16 win over Ajax.

Gunners technical director Edu is in contact with the representatives of Nunez and has shortlisted the Uruguayan forward as a potential summer signing.

Marcus Rashford

According to the Mirror, Arsenal could make a surprise offer for Rashford. It's been a rather frustrating year for the England international on the pitch, who has only made 10 league appearances for the Red Devils, with interim manager Ralf Rangnick favouring both Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga ahead of him.

The Gunners could take advantage of that plight and look to offer Rashford a fresh opportunity.

Victor Osimhen

Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness, has claimed that Arsenal are interested in Napoli centre-forward. However, a move won't happen unless the Gunners can cough up around €100million (£84million) for the Nigerian international. It'll ultimately be interesting to see whether Arsenal pursue the forward at the figure quoted, or whether they believe there's a better and cheaper alternative out there.

Lautaro Martinez

Arsenal have reportedly been told how much they will have to pay to sign Inter Milan striker Martinez. The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for the Argentine international last summer before he eventually penned a new long-term contract at the San Siro.

Now, Italian outlet Calciomercato have claimed that if any club was to offer €70million (£58.5million) this summer then Inter would likely allow Martinez to leave, with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid believed to be the two clubs who are most interested. The report also claims that the north London outfit have talked to the player's agent.

Armando Broja

football.london reported in February that Arsenal have been monitoring the on loan Chelsea star's progress at Southampton. Meanwhile, other reports have suggested that he's refusing to rule out the possibility of a move away from Stamford Bridge ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to the Express, he's open to all options this summer and would not be prepared to rule anything out at this point in time.

That being said, the 20-year-old is also reportedly eager to see what Chelsea might have in store for him upon his return to west London and would be keen to establish himself as a first-team asset under Thomas Tuchel's guidance. And with the Blues' future still uncertain, they may be forced into holding onto players they already own.

Robert Lewandowski

Previously according to FourFourTwo, Arsenal are one of a number of clubs that may pursue a move for Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski in the summer, after an impasse in contract negotiations with the Bundesliga giants.

The former Borrusia Dortmund striker has so far refused to commit his long term future at the club and with his contract set to expire in 2023, the likes of Barcelona have been reportedly interested in acquiring the Poland international's services.

Interestingly, recent reports have stated that Bayern Munich are already on the lookout for potential replacements for Lewandowski, with Darwin Nunez a player the German club are heavily interested in, according to Sport1.

But despite this, Bayern Munich sporting director Mateu Alemany has stated that any rumours of Lewandowski potentially leaving is pure 'speculation from the press'.

Paulo Dybala

According to Fabrizio Romano, Dybala won't be signing a new contract with the Serie A side on the conditions they have set, and he's now set to begin talks with interested parties. Thus, he will leave the club after a hugely successful seven-year spell with his current employers.

With that in mind, as per 90min, a number of prominent Premier League clubs have been offered the chance to recruit him ahead of next season, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham said to be among the parties interested.
