With Aaron Rodgers out for the rest of the 2023 NFL season with a torn Achilles, the big conversation on Tuesday is whether or not the Jets are looking to sign another quarterback to the roster, specifically another veteran.
While various names have been mentioned in reports on Tuesday, former starting quarterback Robert Griffin III seemed to make the case for himself during Tuesday’s episode of Get Up on ESPN.
However, he admitted that he doesn’t think the Jets would bring out any inactive quarterbacks that would be a “distraction” for Zach Wilson, who is now the Jets’ starting quarterback.
“Some of these guys like Carson Wentz, Cam Newton, Colin Kaepernick, myself, it’s not that we can’t play the game anymore, it’s that we’re a big distraction if you bring us in,” Griffin III said. “I had a GM tell me this offseason, ‘Hey man, I know you can still play, you look like you can still play, but if we bring you in, it’s going to be a distraction for our starting quarterback.’”

Even though Griffin III sounds like he knows he could still play, he doesn’t have any intentions to return to the NFL field.
“I will tell you right now, there’s not a guy on the street or in any booth anywhere, including myself, that’s going to give the Jets a better chance to win than Zach Wilson,” Griffin III said.
Jets coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Tuesday that the team will look at young and veteran quarterbacks to join the roster, but Wilson will be the starter regardless of who they sign.
