The journey of Robert Downey Jr. from Hollywood outcast to superhero icon is the stuff of dreams. However, it seems that he could have joined the world of superheroes a little earlier as the villain of a popular DC movie.
Downey Jr. became one of the biggest stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to his appearance as Iron Man from 2008 to 2019. Although it is hard to imagine him appearing in any other comic book role and gaining the same acclaim, it seems that he almost appeared in the role of Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, but was turned down for the role, which eventually went to his Oppenheimer costar, Cillian Murphy.
