Robbie Williams might be well known for his singing talents, but it's been reported he's embarking on a surprising career change.
The former Take That star appears to be planning on creating his own line of wine, despite having been sober for 20 years.
Robbie, 48, is reported to have applied to have the name of the booze, Rude Rise – which is a tribute to his 2006 release Rudebox – trademarked by the UK’s Intellectual Property Office.
Angels hitmaker Robbie wants to create a line of wines, alcopops and spirits using the trademarked name, it has been claimed.
His application is said to have been filed earlier this month and will remain in place for a decade once approved by officials.
Robbie’s new endeavour comes as Gary Barlow launched his own wines, Gary Barlow Organic, last year.
Robbie is seemingly following in the footsteps of his former bandmate, who released an £8 line of Spanish red and white wines in 2021 before later adding a rosé.
He said at the time: “The definition of a great evening for me is friends, laughter and good wine.
“I've been fortunate enough to have travelled and experienced different cultures over the years and wines from across the world.
“After months of learning about the process and tasting different blends, I'm very proud to now launch my own range of organic wines from Spain.”
Aside from the drinks market, Gary recently revealed that Take That has already began working on their new album, marking the first for the group in five years.
“We have started a little bit of writing, but we’re not due to officially start until the New Year,” Gary suggested on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show.
“Hopefully [there will be an album out] next year, but we’ve got to write some hits.”
Their most recent release was Wonderland, the eighth studio album for the band, which was released in March 2017 and was met with widespread criticism.
In fact, The Guardian awarded the album just a mere two stars out five and highlighted how one track, And The Band Plays, tried to emulate the departed bandmember Robbie’s style, which ended up flopping.
Michael Cragg wrote: “And the Band Plays sees him trying on Robbie’s swagger for size. (Spoiler alert: it doesn’t fit).”
The band is a trio once more following the departure of Robbie and Jason Orange, but will nonetheless be headlining the BST festival in Hyde Park next summer.
