Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field have admitted they rarely have sex anymore, and would rather cuddle up on the couch together as the Angels singer stopped his testosterone treatment to help his depression recover.
The 49-year-old Take That legend's libido dropped following the transition, but it appears his wife Ayda, 43, couldn't be more smitten with her husband despite the pivot in their love life, which has had everyone talking as the news broke on Tuesday night.
Actress Ayda, who often appears on Loose Women, confessed she was quite happy working out in the gym than in the bedroom at their lavish £38.9 million Beverly Hills mansion, which the couple share with their four children.
Speaking to the Sun, Robbie said: “Everyone knows there’s no sex after marriage," whilst his wife added that, “Intimacy is the important, meaningful side of love. We’re happy.”
It comes after former X Factor judge Ayda joked that year during a podcast that sex between the couple was “completely dead” as she was flooded with text messages from friends the next day asking if she was ok about her 'sexless' marriage.
But the couple revealed they would rather cuddle up on the couch and get stuck into a new Netflix series.
Robbie added: “Sex in a marriage is only a problem if you’re on different pages; if one person wants it, and the other doesn’t; if you have different expectations or requirements.
“But really, everyone knows there is no sex after marriage. That’s just the way it is. I was on testosterone for a while but, because I’m an addict, that had to stop. I got these massive square shoulders and started to look like a doorman. It wasn’t a good look.
“But the sex we had when I was on testosterone was incredible; it was all the time. We were insatiable. It goes to show how into each other we really are, though, because when I was on it, we couldn’t take our hands off each other.
“I miss that. That was a fun period. Sometimes now, though, Ayda will turn to me on the sofa and say, ‘We should do sex,’ and I’m sitting there eating a tangerine and just sort of shrug. So, ya know, sometimes we try.”
Ayda, who was a judge with Robbie on The X Factor in 2018, added: “I think people confuse sex for intimacy. We are always cuddling and kissing, holding hands, and touching each other when we are just watching TV on the sofa, or a movie, or whatever.”
She continued: “Intimacy is the important, meaningful side of love. I have friends who feel obliged to have sex with their husbands and that must be awful.
“Me and Rob are on the same page. We are happy.”
The Let Me Entertain You singer shocked fans with a new look following years of body struggles and having a "constant battle" with his weight over the years.
His wife gushed over her husband's new look on social media, as she said he has "still got it," despite Robbie admitting he has a constant fight on his hands over his weight, having been labelled as 'Blobby Williams' in the past.
He met his wife Ayda in 2006 when she featured in a UFO documentary that he produced for BBC Radio 4 and they have been married now 13 years. The couple share kids Theodora (Teddy), 10, Charlton, eight, Colette, four and Beau, three.
