Robbie Williams has admitted he will play himself in the upcoming biopic about his life – but he doesn’t know who will play him in his younger years.
The 48-year-old former Take That star is busy working on a big screen adaptation of his own life from teenage years to boyband success and solo superstardom.
The upcoming film is being directed by Australian filmmaker Michael Gracey – who also directed smash hit musical drama The Greatest Showman in 2017.
But when it comes to casting someone to play pop show man Robbie, it seems there is no one quite like the Angels singer himself to play the part – at least in his later years.
The Sun on Sunday reports Rob telling an audience Down Under this past week: “The thing is about films is that it is a wonder anything gets made.
“Everything gets held up in a bottleneck. It is always, ‘This person says no and this person says yes and this person is offended and this person is not offended enough’. It is agents and lawyers.
“I am 97 per cent sure it will happen. I don’t know who will play me when I am younger but I know who will play me when I am older. You are looking at him.”
Meanwhile, Robbie has previously explained that he is struggling to cast a younger version of himself.
And insider told the Mirror back in March: “Michael and Robbie held top-secret auditions to find a star to play the young Robbie recently.
“They didn’t meet anyone they were confident could pull it off.
“Robbie is stunned at how difficult the project has been to get made. And now he’s starting to worry it’s never going to make it to the big screen and he’ll look foolish for hyping it up.”
Elsewhere, Gary Barlow has shot down claims that he too will feature in Rob’s upcoming biopic – which is due to be titled Better Man.
Excitement erupted earlier this month when reports suggested Gaz was Down Under to take part int he biopic.
But a rep for the musician told the Mirror that Gary was "just on holiday with his family," dismissing the suggestion that he's set to star in his former bandmate's silver screen project.
Jake Simmance, 24, will play a teenage version of Gary in the project. His credits include BBC series Call the Midwife and more recently Netflix's Anatomy of a Scandal.
It's understood the rest of Take That will be played by Liam Head, Jesse Hyde and Chase Vollenweider. They're said to play Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Jason Orange respectively.
