Robbie Ure has revealed he was always going to choose Scotland despite Ukraine's approach to him, after he was named in Sebastien Pocognoli's squad.
The Sevilla striker looks set to win his first cap for his country in Scotland's upcoming four Nations League qualifiers.
But he was the subject of a surprise approach by the war-torn nation to play for Ukraine earlier this year because he qualifies through a grandparent.
However, ex-Rangers, Anderlecht and Sirius star Ure insists Scotland was always his first choice after he reviewed his first few weeks of life in La Liga.
He said: "Of course, it means a lot to me to be selected for the first time.
"I think it's fairly well known that I also had interest from Ukraine, but it was always something I wanted to do - play for Scotland.
"And I hope I can do that in the coming weeks.

"I was born in Scotland and raised in Scotland, so I definitely feel Scottish. I'm excited about the opportunity.
"I think when you move to such a big league as La Liga, a league that's known worldwide, more people in my country will pay attention to you. So I think that's normal, and yes, it's about trying to keep working hard every day and trying to be patient as well.
"So in Scotland, a lot of people have taken notice of me since I came to Sevilla and La Liga.
"I always wanted to learn Spanish. I love Spain and I always spent my summer holidays there. I love the food, the culture, and the atmosphere. So it was something I always wanted to do and now I hope to improve on that and want to become fluent someday. I also have classes here twice a week.
"When I heard about Sevilla's interest, I put any other offers aside because I was only focused on Sevilla.
"The name carries a lot of weight throughout Europe and the opportunity to come here, to be able to come to this training ground every day and work hard and then play in front of such incredible fans was something I couldn't refuse, so in the end, it was an easy choice.
"La Liga is obviously a big step up and when you have a different culture every day, when you have new teammates and you have to build relationships, I just need to work hard. I need to keep working hard in training and keep trying to get on the pitch and try to impress the coach.
"I'm sure the goals will come with time. I'm adapting to everything, including the heat, of course. I'm just trying to enjoy it as much as I can and be patient. Everything is new right now, and I'm sure I'll get there."
