Robbie Savage wants Rangers sporting director call as Chris Sutton tells him he'll pass on Beale's number

Robbie Savage has said he'll take on the vacant role of Rangers sporting director - and Chris Sutton is willing to pass on Michael Beale's number.

There's a major rebuild ahead at Ibrox with new chairman John Bennett recently replacing Douglas Park, and Stewart Robertson stepping down as managing director while James Bisgrove becomes CEO. That's before you get to on the field matters, as they look destined to finish this term without silverware following a 1-0 loss to Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-finals. Their rivals who beat them in the League Cup final in February can wrap up an 11th Premiership in 12 years next week away at Hearts.

Boss Beale will have plenty of recruitment to do with key men like Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent out of contract and no extensions in sight as of yet, and Ross Wilson recently departed his sporting director role to go to Nottingham Forest. Speaking on his 606 show on 5Live, Savage - who is director of football at non-league club Macclesfield Town - has put out the come and get me plea to lend a hand.

He asked Sutton 'Where can I apply for the sporting director role at Rangers? I'd do a good job' The Celtic hero - who Beale called the 'worst player ever' to play for his boyhood heroes Chelsea earlier this term - replied 'Give Michael Beale a ring, I'll send you his number.'

Prior to the tongue-in-cheek remark, Savage commented on the state of play at Ibrox heading into the summer. He responded to a callers assessment on the Rangers manager: "I am fan of Scottish football.

"Chris has educated me and I understand it a lot more. Surely you are defined as a Celtic or a Rangers manager in these games, not if you beat Aberdeen, Dundee United or Dundee?

"Has he beat Celtic, how many attempts (four without a win)? Am I being unfair?"
