Robbie Savage says Rangers lacked class as he winds up Celtic hero Chris Sutton

Robbie Savage has had a playful dig at Chris Sutton after Celtic emerged victors at Hampden - but admits Rangers perhaps lacked a touch of runners-up class.

The Hoops retained their Viaplay Cup trophy after defeating their bitter rivals 2-1 in Mount Florida. Kyogo's double set them up for glory and Alfredo Morelos' goal proved little consolation for Michael Beale's men, who are nine points behind Ange Postecoglou's side in the Premiership. Savage brought the post-game discussion to 5 Live alongside Hoops hero Sutton and started in cheeky fashion with 'so Christopher, Celtic scraping a win.'

The Record Sport columnist wasn't having it, saying 'you're so much better than that Rob.' Sutton continued with: "Actions speak louder than words. We have heard Michael Beale come out and basically say Ange Postecoglou is a lucky man, Fashion Sakala coming out and calling Celtic 'the other mob.' Celtic proved on the pitch, little bit flat this evening, Rangers."

Sutton was on TV duties at Hampden and wasn't too impressed with what he claimed as a lack of decorum from the defeated club. He explained: "I don't want to stir the pot here but it's just an observation.

"It's interesting, I don't think the Rangers players stayed on the pitch to applaud the Celtic team. Just an observation, I am not trying to stir a pot here.

Newcastle United had done that in the English equivalent Carabao Cup final against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, something that impressed Savage. So he was of the opinion it was a poor move by the Light Blues.

He replied to Sutton with: "Did they not, really? So when Celtic players were lifting the trophy Rangers weren't on the pitch? That is poor that for me if that is the case."
