'Robbery' - Leeds United supporters react to dramatic defeat against Arsenal at Elland Road

Leeds United supporters have issued a rallying cry for Jesse Marsch to sign a new striker in the aftermath of their dramatic defeat against Arsenal at Elland Road.

It was a bizarre afternoon in general as play was delayed by up to 35 minutes due to a technical issue. A power cut had caused the on-field officials to lose contact with both the VAR station at Stockley Park, as well as with the goal line technology system.

The Whites largely dominated proceedings, especially in the second half, but couldn't capitalise on a number of golden chances. Patrick Bamford had a goal ruled out for the softest of pushes, before his frustration was compounded with a penalty miss just past the hour-mark.

Gabriel was shown a red card in second half stoppage time after kicking out at Bamford. But after reviewing the incident on the pitchside monitor, Chris Kavanagh deemed Bamford to have pushed Gabriel, and controversially swapped the red card for a yellow to the dismay of the Elland Road faithful.

There was also understandable criticism levelled at Rodrigo for his mistake leading to Bukayo Saka's first half goal. Rodrigo led the line from the start but was replaced by Bamford at the break after his cross-field ball presented Saka with a prime opportunity to fire past Illan Meslier.

Despite the result, and the lack of conviction in the final third, Leeds produced a promising display ahead of a crucial run of fixtures, which will see them face Leicester, Fulham, Liverpool and Bournemouth in the next three weeks.

The defeat leaves Leeds just one point clear of the relegation zone, albeit with a game in hand over the five teams directly below them.

Here is how Leeds fan have reacted to a dramatic afternoon on social media.

@b33r I'd like to report a robbery.

@cpeno Play like that every week and we should be fine. Result doesn't reflect the performance.

@Damien_Cms The Bamford change at half-time made a massive difference. Very unlucky not to get a point from that match after totally dominating the second half. The results haven't matched some of our performances recently so hopefully that will change soon. MOT.

@RLeak_ Battered them and yet again can't score. Please get another striker in January.

@road_lowfields No shame in that & could've beaten them. Stick with it and we'll be alright. Good vibes overall.

@Mav_92 Proud of the effort. We keep playing like that and we stay up no dramas.

@c_ellis92 Proud of that performance despite the result. But please can we try and maintain those levels most weeks and stop gifting other teams points.

@AFin26UK Play like that against Leicester, Bournemouth and Fulham and it's 9 points. Bookmark this.

@lufcliam Sign a striker please.

@DannyWright82 Today once again showed the ineptitude of not investing in another striker for the last 5 years.

@bielsa_b And this is why we needed a striker in the summer... Rodrigo gives them a goal and Bamford misses a penalty.
