Wales’ core of ageing veterans have “promised” boss Rob Page that they won’t all quit together.
Skipper and record scorer Gareth Bale,33, heads a key group of stars like Aaron Ramsey,31, Joe Allen, 32,Wayne Hennessey,35, and Chris Gunter,33, who are all into their thirties. Bale said recently after moving to MLS side Los Angeles FC that he aims to play for Wales at Euro 2024.
But several team-mates have been tipped to retire after this winter’s World Cup which may be a last hurrah for some after Wales qualified for the first time in 64 years.
