Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has expressed his delight after the Welsh side were allowed to release their new all-black third kit ahead of the new season.
Having previously been blocked from wearing black in the National League, Wrexham's promotion to League Two has allowed McElhenney's dream to be realised after "three years" of trying. On Wednesday, the Red Dragons - who are owned by the American actor and Canadian star Ryan Reynolds - unveiled their new away and third kits for the 2023-24 campaign.
Made by Macron and featuring United Airlines as the club's new front-of-shirt sponsor, Wrexham's black third strip will be worn when they're unable to wear their white and green away kit. It features a red trim on the sleeves and rear of the shirt, but most notably has a pattern on the front which is inspired by Wrexham and North Wales' coal mining history.
Upon the announcement, co-owner McElhenney tweeted: "I've been trying to get this one made for 3 years. Under National League rules, we couldn't have a black kit. Not a problem anymore ;)"
Following troubles with the release of their home shirt - which is red, the club's signature colour - Wrexham have announced a new sale process. Fans reported being charged for more kits than they'd ordered, while others couldn't even access the website.
"The Club has reviewed the website following the home shirt release, and the capacity has been increased to cope with demand," Wrexham said. "Supporters are reminded not to press refresh when attempting purchase the shirts, to avoid ending up with multiple charges.
"Shirts are limited to two shirts per order in line with the new policy in store, and we will be monitoring those who attempt to make multiple orders."

The global demand for Wrexham merchandise continues to boost the amount of cash which co-owners McElhenney and Reynolds can pump into the Racecourse Ground, just as they've been doing since purchasing the club in February 2021. Earlier this year, the newly-promoted League Two outfit published a report which detailed just how much money the pair of Hollywood actors had invested during the period between June 2021 and June 2022.
Wrexham recouped a huge £5.972million, which was a 404 per cent increase compared to the previous 12 months. However, rising football costs of £3.94m resulted in a staggering overall loss of £2.914m.
In 2022, a documentary series entitled 'Welcome to Wrexham' was streamed on Disney Plus and boosted the club's worldwide audience, particularly in the United States. Wrexham were also especially included in the popular video game, FIFA 23.
